Let's look at Huawei's 2018 flagship - it's looking pretty exciting.
Hot on the new that Huawei has become the world's second largest smartphone by volume, despite ongoing issues in the US market, we need to look at rumours surrounding the upcoming Mate 20.
The Mate 10 was a great phone in three variations, the Mate 10 Lite for the value end of the market, the Mate 10 in the upper mid-range and the range topping Mate 10 Pro.
Huawei are looking to outdo themselves with this year's Mate 20 range. As with last year, we're expecting three new devices in the Mate range.
Design & Performance
XDA Developers have been digging around in the firmware for the Mate 20 and are now expecting to see a device with a 6.3" screen, 4300mAh battery and will run on the Huawei owned HiSilicon Kirin 980 SoC - the version up from the Kirin 970 that powers the Huawei P20 Pro.
Expectation is that this new chip will support a triple camera setup along with performance and battery enhancements.
With this chip in play, expect more triple camera goodness from the Mate range (it was the defining and most talked about feature of the P20 Pro, Huawei would be mad to pass up the opportunity for further media buzz by passing on the triple camera setup). The Mate 20 Lite pictured here seems to be going for a dual camera set up at least, raising hopes of a triple camera as we go up the range.
It's not clear yet whether the Mate 20 series is going to have a notch or not, or indeed where Huawei will place the fingerprint sensor - could the Mate 20 series be one of the first devices to go with an in screen sensor?
Release Date & Pricing
Last year's mid-range Mate 10 Pro went onsale at a price of £799 in the UK but can now be had for around £399. Expect a £20 - £30 increase in price for the Mate 20 Pro when it's released sometime between mid-October and mid-November 2018.
As always, we'll be keeping you up to date with all the news and rumours as we get them.
